SEELEY, ONE-TIME BLACKSMITH, DEAD
Early Akron Resident Succumbs After Lingering Illness; Rites Monday
William Martin Seeley, 68, known as one of the city’s oldest blacksmiths, died Friday at his home, 199 Euclid av.
He was the father of the late Ernest Seeley who was killed Feb. 28 in a dynamite explosion at Botzum.
Mr. Seeley was born in Akron, April 13, 1868, the son of James A. and Lida Seeley, early Akron residents. He received his education in Brecksville schools.
For 22 years he was in the lumber business and for 15 years, he had a blacksmith’s establishment. In 1920, he became wagon blacksmith for the Botzum Brothers and later was employed by the city.
His death followed a lingering illness. He leaves his widow, Blanche, four sons, James A., Daniel E., Billy N. and Kenneth P., and two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Houser, and Wilmetta Seeley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Sweeny’s Memorial chapel, 466 E. Market st. Burial will be in Brecksville, O.
