William Joseph “Bill” Seely (1950 – 2018)

William Joseph “Bill” Seely, 67, Indianapolis (formerly of Monticello), passed away at 1:20 p.m., Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at the Franciscan Health, St. Francis Hospital of Indianapolis with his family by his side.

He was born on July 19, 1950, in Cudahy, Wis., to the late James and Vina (Tucker) Seely. On Aug. 5, 1972, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Delphi he married Mary C. Scott; she survives.

Bill and his wife, Mary, have lived in the Indianapolis area for last several years moving from the Monticello area.

He was a 1968 graduate of Twin Lakes High School of Monticello. Bill went on to graduate in 1976 from the University of Nebraska with a degree in Criminal Justice.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran.

Bill retired after working for 27 years from working at the Federal Bureau of Prisons.

He was a member of the Nativity Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Indianapolis.

Bill truly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and golfing.

Surviving are wife, Mary C. Seely, Indianapolis; son, James Seely, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Gunner and Harper Seely; sisters, Judy (Ted) Kopshinsky, Waukesha, Wis., and Joan (Ron) Chapman, Lafayette; brother, James (Linda) Seely, Phoenix, Ariz.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, James and Vina (Tucker) Seely; and brother, Thomas Seely.

Visitation will be from 1 – 3 p.m. Sunday at the Miller-Roscka Funeral Home of Monticello. Full Military Rites by the Monticello Veterans Honor Guard of Monticello followed by Celebration of Life Service will be at the funeral home starting at 3 p.m. Sunday, with family and friends speaking.

Burial will be at the Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Delphi (Carroll County).

Memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Mass Cards. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
