Victor Seely of Pioneer Family, Dies

Victor Seely, a Highland and San Bernardino resident for 82 years whose grandfather came to California in 1849 [sic should be 1851], died Wednesday at a San Bernardino hospital. He was 83.

Mrs. Seely was born in Mt. Pleasant, Utah, June 27, 1882, and brought to the San Bernardino Valley a year later. He was the fourth of six children born to David Randolph and Mary Seely.

His grandfather, the late David Seely, came to California in 1849 [sic should be 1851].

Seely was a retired cook for Patton State Hospital. He lived at 160 S. Arrowhead Ave., San Bernardino.

He is survived by a nephew, James R. Wells of Highland, and three nieces, Mrs. Elaine Seely Gibbons of Highland, Mrs. Kathryn Scott of Santa Rosa and Mrs. Barbara Eitel of Point Loma.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Today at Mt. View Cemetery, with Bobbitt Memorial Chapel directing.

Friends may call at the chapel until 1 p.m. Today.
