Ruth E. “Gene” Seely
Ruth E. “Gene” Seely, 77, of Springfield, Mo., died at 12:29 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2002 in ManorCare Nursing Home.
She was born on July 11, 1924 in Fordland, Mo., the daughter of John H. and Elizabeth Huffman McDonald.
She was a member of the Seminole Baptist Church and a retired secretary for the Springfield Elementary School System.
Gene loved to sew and spoil her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael; a daughter, Joyce Annette; and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Harry of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Susan Seely of Springfield, Mo.; a daughter and son-in-law Diana and Mike Brown of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two sisters, Hazel Byrd of Illinois, and Lois Steward of Springfield, Mo.; grandchildren Stephen, Stephanie, and Seth Seely, and Ashley Brown; and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2002 in Greenlawn Funeral Home South with the Rev. Mel Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Children’s Miracle Network.
