Robert Nelson Sealy Jr., age 67, of Lexington, died February 18, after a courageous two-year battle with Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS).

Bob was born on September 11, 1946 in Rock Hill, SC to the late Robert and Aggidel Sealy. He attended University High School and graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Master’s Degree in Engineering. After college he worked for DuPont and for Saudi Aramco in Saudi Arabia for 26 years, retiring as their Chief Engineer in 2000.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Alice Schucker Sealy, of Lexington; two children: Robert Nelson Sealy III (Jade) of Houston, Texas and Allison Elizabeth Sealy of Raleigh, NC; one grandchild: Robert Nelson Sealy IV; and one sister: Barbara Higgins. A sister, Joan James, predeceased him.

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, at Ashland United Methodist Church, 2600 Ashland Rd., Columbia, SC, with visitation following in Ashland Hall. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the family requests donations be made to the ALS Association, SC Chapter, 1023 Wappoo Rd., Suite A19, Charleston, SC 29407 (www.scalsa.org). Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo is handling the arrangements.
