Mrs. Nancy Seely, wife of Thaddeus Seely, of Bushville, in the town of Greenville, committed suicide about 6:30 Wednesday a.m., by drowning herself in a pond on the farm of her son, Milton Seely, at that place.
Mrs. Seely, when she arose, shortly after 6 o’clock, dressed herself and left the house. She had not returned at 7 o’clock, and when search was made for her, a note which she had left was found in the house. The note stated that she had gone to the pond to take a bath.
When the members of the family went to the pond they found the body in about three feet of water. Mrs. Seely had removed her bonnet and shoes, placing the former on the top of a post and her shoes at the bottom.
The woman had tied two smoothing irons about her waist and these held the body under water. Dr. Myers, of Slate Hill, was summoned, but the woman had been dead some time when he arrived.
Coroner Crist, of this city, went to the Seely place and held the inquest, rendering a decision in accordance with the facts, as related.
Mrs. Seely was about 75 years of age and had been acting strangely for some time.
