After a spirited life of 97 years, Mary T. Seeley died peacefully early Sunday morning at St. Joseph’s Hospital with her daughter and grandsons in attendance. The daughter of Dominic and Carmella Catrupi Macheda, she was a lifelong resident of Syracuse, graduated from North High School and retired from the VA Hospital. She most recently resided at the Bernadine Apartments and was an avid NY Yankees fan and BINGO player.
Her surviving family includes her daughter, JoAnne V. Straight of Syracuse; her grandsons, Christopher J. Straight of North Syracuse and Samuel W. Straight of Ann Arbor, MI; her brother, James Macheda of Syracuse; her sister, Antoinette Stanton of Billings, MT; and several well-loved nieces and nephews. Her memorial Mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament in Eastwood at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 27. The family will receive friends at the church from at 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass, with burial to follow at Woodlawn Mausoleum.
