m. 1st, 10 Mar 1776, Rebecca Gibbon (b 1758; d 4 May 1822). Daughter of Leonard Gibbon (SGS #1019). Granddaughter of John and Esther Seeley (SGS #326) Gibbon.
m. 2nd, 12 Dec 1822, Sarah Eva Potter Champneys (b 3 Mar 1778; d 23 Jul 1830). Widow of Benjamin Champneys, M.D. Daughter of David and Mary Mason Potter.
Resided Seeley’s Mills, Deerfield, and Bridgeton, NJ. He operated the mill on the Cohansey River, which he inherited from his father before returning to Bridgeton, NJ. Josiah was a member of the “Party of Tea Burners” at Greenwich, N J, 1775. He enlisted 7 Feb 1776. He was a First Lieutenant and then Quartermaster, First Battalion, Cumberland Co., NJ.
