Jessie E. Seely

A mother holds her children’s hand for awhile…their hearts forever. Our loving mother and grandmother, Jessie E. Seely, 88, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Daniel Nickels. She is survived by her children, Dennis R. (Sherry) Seely of North Carolina, Diane (Daniel) Nickels of Owego; brothers, Warren (Marlene Hooker) Vail, Milton (Aldona) Vail; grandchildren: Dennis Seely, Jr., Dale (Patricia) Seely, Darleen Parmelee, Michele Seely, Jennifer (Anthony Simielo) Nickels, Christopher (Lynette) Nickels; great-grandchildren: Christina, Alesea, Derek, Stephanie, Dylan, Dalton, Bethany and Ethan; great-great-grandson, Camrin; several nieces and nephews also survive. Jessie was predeceased by her husband, Norman in 1986; brothers, Stanley (Elsie) Vail, David (Diane) Vail; and sister, Erdella (George) Homanich. Jessie was born at home in Carbondale, PA on November 5, 1921, a daughter of the late Floyd and Daisy (Glasser) Vail. A devoted mother and true Christian, Jessie was a member of the Owego United Methodist Church. Her compassionate ways and kindness towards others will always be remembered. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service and celebration of Jessie’s life on Friday, October 22, at 7 p.m. at the Owego United Methodist Church with Pastor Alan Jager officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to the Owego United Methodist Church, 261 Main Street, Owego, NY 13827 or Lourdes Hospice Home Care, 4102 Old Vestal Road, Vestal, NY 13850 in loving memory of Jessie E. Seely.
