LONGMEADOW – Janice (Axelson) Seely, 74, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Rockford, Illinois, she was the daughter of the late Bert and Helen (Leden) Axelson. Janice was educated in the Rockford school system and later a graduate of the University of Illinois Dental Program. She was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Luke in East Longmeadow. Janice dedicated her life to serving those in substance abuse recovery. She is survived by two devoted daughters, Deborah S. Smith and her husband Kevin both of Atlanta, GA, Mary S. Sitaras and her husband Fr. Michael Sitaras both of Longmeadow, she also leaves six cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, John, Parker, Alexander, Peyton, and Christina. Family and friends are invited to celebrate in a funeral service Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at 11 a.m. at the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Luke, 400 Prospect St., East Longmeadow. Janice will lie in state from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at the Longmeadow Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main St., East Longmeadow.
