d. 5 Apr 1837, age 78 years, 3 months, 12 days, Millerton, Tioga Co., PA; bur Curren/Seely Cemetery, Tioga Co., PA.  Pension record states he was 72 years old on 9 Jul 1832.
m. Nancy Westlake (b 8 Dec 1760; d 5 May 1841; bur Curren/Seely Cemetery, Tioga Co., PA.

Resided in Sussex Co., NJ; Chemung and Tioga Co., NY and Tioga Co., PA.

James Seely served for two and one-half years in the Revolutionary War from Aug 1777 to Sep 1780.  Served in and around New York City under various commanders including Capt. Thomas Moffet and Col. Isaac Nicollat the Battles of White Plains.  He was in the fort at the Battle of Fort Washington with Col. Magaw when the post was surrendered.  He also was in the Battle of Kingsbridge.  Served in Orange Co., NY and on the Delaware River against the Indians and the Loyalists.  He also served in the “Minisink” region under Col. Jacob Stroud.
