PLEASANT GROVE – James Dale Seely, 81 of Pleasant Grove, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 at his home.
He was born Sept. 27, 1925 in Mt. Pleasant, the second of seven children, to Ruel Hazard and Anna Eula Jorgensen Seely. He married Gloria Cleo Nelson on Nov. 19, 1945 in the Manti LDS Temple. Gloria passed away on Feb. 10, 2004.
Dale attended schools in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from North Sanpete High School. He later graduated from Snow College with a degree in business and received a degree in accounting from BYU.
After graduating from BYU, he worked at Geneva Steel for a number of years. He later earned his teacher’s certification from BYU and taught school for 27 years at Grovecrest Elementary.
Dale served as scoutmaster for many years and loved the scouting program. He served in many church callings during his life, including several bishoprics and stake high councils.
He enjoyed riding horses, fishing, and working in his garden.
He survived rearing three children, Nelson Dale (Patricia) Seely, Lewiston; Lynn Ruel (Darlene) Seely, Pleasant Grove; Cheryl (Clyde) Morgan, Fountain Green. Additional survivors include nine grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; siblings: Boyd (Betty) Seely, Cedar Hills; Helen (J.H.) Harvey, American Fork; Leone (Ross) Smith, Thatcher, Idaho.
Funeral services will be Thursday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Grove 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 455 East 200 South. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 S. 300 East, Pleasant Grove, and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.
