James Arden Seely

James Arden Seely, 40 of 564 Halyday Run Road, Oil City, formerly of RD 5, Titusville, died at 5:10 a.m. Wednesday April 23, 1997, at Northwest Medical Center West Unit, after an extended illness.

He was born Aug. 17, 1956, Oil City, to Elsie Pringle Seely and the late Arden D. Seely.

Mr. Seely had been employed by Pennzoil Co. for 20 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseback riding and all sports, including golf and softball. He played in the Oil City Baseball League.

Mr. Seeley co-owned sprint car No. 401, which was raced at local tracks. He enjoyed hunting here and in Colorado and Maine and liked to read.

Surviving are his mother; a brother, Jordan of Oil City; two sisters and their husbands, Cathy and Thomas Harmon of Oil City and Linda and Mark Mitchell of Cooperstown; nieces and nephews, Melissa Michael, Sarah and David Harmon of Oil City and Lisa, Molly and Nicholas Mitchell of Cooperstown; a great-niece, Miranda Coxson of Cooperstown; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Morrison Funeral Home, 110 Petroleum St., Oil City, and attend the funeral there at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Thomas Hindman, pastor of the Oakland United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Jeffrey Bingman, pastor of Community Church of God at Cooperstown, officiating.

Interment will be in Lamey Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice.
