Funeral services were held for Esther M. Seeley on Dec. 1, 1984 at Govier Brothers Chapel, Broken Bow. Rev. Linda Martin officiated at the service. Music was provided by Edna Anderson and Shirley Kennedy. Pallbearers were Ron Seeley, John Seeley, Harvey Vogt, Martin Seeley, Robert Seeley and Harold Thompson. Interment was at the Merna Cemetery.
Esther M. Seeley, the only child of August G. and Gunhild Rasmussen, was born Feb. 10, 1898 in Kristensend, Norway. She died Nov. 28, 1984 at Syracuse, at the age of 86.
She is survived by a son, Harold F. Seeley, West Linn, Ore.; a daughter, Mrs. William (Gwen) Vogt, Unadilla; two daughters-in-law, Leona Croak, Reno, Nev., and Pat Seeley, Halsey; 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two sons and one great-grandchild.
Mrs. Seeley came to American with her parents at the age of 8. Her father was a baker by trade and they made their home in North Dakota, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska. Esther was married to Ferris Seeley on June 18, 1918 in Omaha. Four children were born to this union: Donald, Burdell, Harold and M. Gwendolyn.
The Seeley made their home in Lincoln until 1938 when they moved to the Seeley Ranch, Halsey, Neb. Since her husband’s death in 1974, she had divided her time between her children. Esther was a member of the Halsey Church of Christ and the Halsey’s Women’s Fellowship.
Colbert Funeral Home of Elmwood was in charge of local arrangements.
