Mogadore Druggist Doc Seeley

MOGADORE – His name was Elliott W. Seeley, but almost from the minute he opened his little drug store at S. Cleveland av. and Mogadore rd. in the 1920s people here called him “Doc.”

Doc Seeley operated his drug store until 1958 when he sold his interest in it, and kept working as a druggist in the same store.  He became ill three weeks ago.

Saturday Doc Seeley, 74, of 3870 Orchard st., died in Akron City Hospital.

“He was very interested in Mogadore and in Magadore people,” a friend said.  “We all liked Doc.”

Born in Lodi, he moved to Mogadore in the early 1920s and adopted the village as his own.

He was a 32nd degree Mason in Scottish Rite Valley of Akron, Yusef Khan Grotto and Akron Lodge 83, F&AM.

Mr. Seeley belonged to Mogadore United Methodist Church.

He leaves wife Sevina; daughter Mrs. Gerhard Kalkofen, Akron; stepdaughters Mrs. Gerald Bolyard, Akron, and Mrs. Lee Kunkle, Mogadore; 10 grandchildren;  brother William, Vienna, Va., and sisters Mrs. Charlotte Albrecht in Florida and Mrs. John K. Soules, Parma.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hopkins Mogadore funeral home, where friends may call 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.  Akron Lodge 83 will conduct services tonight at 7.  Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery, Lodi.

(Doc), age 74 years of 3870 Orchard st., Mogadore, passed away Saturday at Akron City Hospital.  Survived by wife Sebina; daughter, Mrs. Gerhard Kalfofen of Akron; step-daughters, Mrs. Gerald Bolyard of Akron, Mrs. Lee Kunkle of Mogadore; ten grandchildren; brother William A. Seeley of Vienna, Va.; sisters, Mrs. Charlotte Albrecht of Florida, Mrs. John K. Soules of Parma, O.  Funeral services Tuesday 11 a.m. from the Hopkins Mogadore Funeral Home, 34 S. Cleveland av., Mogadore.  Rev. Alvin Arnold officiating.  Burial Woodlawn Cemetery, Lodi.  Friends may call at the funeral home 7 to 9 p.m., Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.  Akron Lodge No. 83 F&AM will conduct services Sunday 7 p.m. (Hopkins)
