Mrs. Ellen Seeley Dies in Michigan

Mrs. Ellen Seeley, widow of the late Charles J. Seeley, died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ray L. Fisher in Ann Arbor, Mich., Saturday morning, where she was passing the winter.  Mrs. Seeley had been in her usual health during the winter and her death was very unexpected.  She was planning to return to Middlebury in June.  The body was brought to her home on High street accompanied by her daughter, Miss Delia Seeley of Rutland.  Owing to illness Mr. and Mrs. Fisher were unable to come.

Mrs. Seeley was born in Cornwall July 25, 1856, the daughter of James and Betsey Sherwood Piper.  She is survived by three daughters, Miss Delia Seeley of Rutland, Mrs. Anna Walkup of Worchester, Mass., Mrs. Ray L. Fisher, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two sons, John of Worcester, Mass., and Edward of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.  Mr. Seeley died in July, 1923.  Mrs. Seeley was for many years a resident of High street.  She was a kind neighbor and was devoted to her home and family.

The funeral was held from her home on High street at 10:30 o’clock Tuesday morning, the Rev. E.W. Gould, pastor of the Methodist church and Rev. H.C. Newell, pastor of the Congregational church, officiating.  The bearers were John Seeley, George Seeley, Charles Seeley, Cassius Seeley, Edward Seeley and Julius Seeley, all relatives of the deceased, and interment was in the family lot in the Seeley district cemetery.

Among those from away to attend the funeral were John Seeley and son, Foster, and Mrs. Anna Walkup of Worcester, Mass., Mr. and Mrs. Edward Seeley of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Miss Delia Seeley of Rutland.
