REV. DR. DONALD C. SEELY

Retired from Tri-State Business Institute

The Rev. Dr. Donald C. Seely, 72, of Montrose, formerly of Erie, died at his home Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, of cancer.

He was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Montrose, son of the late Gilbert C. and Alice E. Hinds Seely.

Rev. Seely was affiliated with Community United Church of Christ in Erie. He worked at Tri-State Business Institute for 11 years, retiring as curriculum coordinator this year. He previously taught at Mercyhurst College and Erie Business Center.

A 1943 graduate of Montrose High School, he earned his bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University, his master’s from Syracuse University and his doctorate from Christian Bible College in North Carolina.

He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and the Korean War, retiring as a lieutenant colonel.

He was an honorary member of the O.L. Davis Fire Department in Endwell, N.Y. and Monroeton Fire Company in Pennsylvania. While living in the Erie area he was a volunteer firefighter with Perry Hi-Way Hose Co.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Campbell Seely.

He is survived by his wife, Eva Mae ”Peg” Olin-Seely; a stepson,

Richard Olin of Mount Airy, Md., and his wife, Elaine; and a stepdaughter, Jeanine Olin of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

Friends may call at Dusckas Funeral Home West, 536 W. 10th St.,

Thursday from 6:30 p.m. until the service there at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. Richard Moyer of Community United Church of Christ will officiate.

Private burial will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
