Seely Patent Golf Club

Spalding or Wright & Ditson

This is the rare Seely Patent iron, patented on May 14th, 1912, and also stamped with “Wright & Ditson Special” inside an oval. There is the famous Wright & Ditson “arm raising a drink in a toast” cleekmark as well. Spalding owned Wright & Ditson at this point and these clubs can be stamped either for Spalding or Wright & Ditson. This mashie is 37 1/2″ long with a “Wright & Ditson” stamped hickory shaft and original brown leather grip. The shaft is straight with no damage. The Seely Patent was for the unusual shaft/hosel connection that is pictured. Nice deep stamps and excellent patina.
