Walter J. Seeley

Middletown – Walter J. Seeley, 79, former president and general manager of Tompkins Dry Goods Co., Middletown, died Sunday at Horton Memorial Hospital following a short illness.

A resident of Middletown for the past 54 years, Mr. Seeley resided with wife, Marguerite, at 14 Crescent Pl.

Born in St. John’s, New Brunswick, Canada, the son of Hubert G. and Sarah Chew Seeley, he married Marguerite Manette in Middletown Oct. 4, 1911.

Mr. Seeley retired several years ago from Tompkins Dry Goods Company where he had served as the company’s president and general manager.

He was a member and past Master of Hoffman Lodge No. 412, F. and A.M., a life member of the Middletown Elks Lodge.

The third man, Walter S. Seeley, who died Nov. 15 at 79, leaves most of his $35,000 estate to his widow, Marguerite F. Seeley, 14 Crescent Place, Middletown, and gives his son, Stanley W. Seeley, 176 North Church St., Goshen, and his daughter, Mildred C. Mabee, 33 Columbia Ave., Middletown, $5,000 each.

Seeley also provides for his four grandchildren by directing that $6,000 each be set aside for their college educations. The four are: Janes C. Seeley, David W. Seeley, Stanley W. Mabee, and Lynn Mabee. Mrs. Seeley is named executrix of the estate.
