m. 1761, Sarah Mallory Hawley (b 1742; d between 1780 and 1784, CT). Daughter of Benjamin Mallory. Widow of Mr. Hawley.

Gideon resided in Huntington and Stratfield Parish, (called Ripton) CT. Gideon was a merchant and a ship owner. He was a Loyalist during the Revolutionary War although his sons and brothers fought for the American cause.
