m. Stamford, CT, Nancy Miller (b about 1751, Tioga Co, PA).
They were of Litchfield, CT and were in Hampton, NY in 1793. He was listed in town record as “Overseer of Highways.”
He enlisted first, 20 Sept 1775, and again in 1777. He was in service until after 1781. He was listed as a private in the service and mileage account, 1779 and with Capt. Alexander Waugh’s Company in 17th Regiment.
From Seelye’s in Service to America, Colonies, and States:*
Enlisted Apr. 22, 1777, in Mattock’s Company, for duration of war; Like many others who wintered at Valley Forge, became ill and deserted, Jan. 24,1778 and went home. Zadock re-entered service with Ct. Militia Reg’t Mar. 29, 1781 with brother Benjamin.
