b. 7 Sept 1729, Stamford, CT
d. 18 Dec 1804, drowned at Cross Rivers, NY; buried in Onondoga Co., NY where his son Gideon was living.
m. 11 July 1754, Deborah Lockwood (b 3 Dec 1736; d 30 Sept 1803; buried in Westchester Co., NY).  Daughter of Daniel and Mary Hoyt Lockwood.

Gideon, with his brother John, moved from Stamford, CT about 1761. In 1784 he was made one of the Trustees of the Presbyterian Church in Lower Salem.  He has been referred to as “Captain” Gideon Seely of Cross River, NY.

Both Gideon and Gideon, Jr. served in the Revolutionary War.  In 1777, Gideon, Sr. was appointed Captain of a Company of Associated Exempts, 4th Regt. Westchester County, New York, under Lt. Col. Joseph Benedict.
