Rachel Seeley

(1852- 1923)

Rachel Bennett, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Bennett was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 11, 1852. When four years of age, she came with her parents to Iowa and located near Mt. Ayr, in Ringo County. Their means of travel at that time was prairie schooner. They resided there until 1872 when they came to Antelope County, and settled in the vicinity of where this town is now located.

On September 16, 1874 she was united in marriage with C.M. Seeley; to them were born six children – Bessie M. Sward of Elgin, Dellmare E. of Millboro, So. Dakota; Mrs. Theresa Redenbaugh of Elgin, Frank of Newell, So. Dakota, two boys died in infancy. There are seven grandchildren. Member of Methodist Church of Elgin.
