SEELEY – In Johnstown, Fourteenth Ward, at No. 119 Hinckston avenue, on Monday morning, January 18, 1897, at 1:20 o’clock, JOHN P. SEELEY, in his 82nd year.

Funeral at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon. Interment in Benshoff’s Cemetery.

John P. Seely

John P. Seely, an aged citizen of the Fourteenth Ward, passed peacefully into eternity at 1:20 o’clock on Monday morning, January 18, 1897, after an illness of nine weeks, of Bright’s disease.

Deceased was born in Mercer County, Pa., May 22, 1815. In the year 1850 he united in marriage with Mary, daughter of Peter C. and Leah Brennell. This union was blessed with thirteen children, eight of whom preceded their father to the grave. Beside his wife, he is survived by five daughters: Leah, wife of James A. Vaughn, if No. 1,631 Eleventh avenue, Altoona; Saloma, wife of John Statler, of No. 1,303 Second avenue, Altoona; Amelia, wife of Joseph Wetzberger, of Chicago; Katie, wife of Ross Marsh, of the Fourteenth Ward, this city; Clara, wife of Jacob Cobaugh, of Westmont, and by his little granddaughter – May Manges – who made her home with her grandparents.

Mr. Seely was an employee of the Cambria Iron Company as foreman of the Rope Shop, and was beloved by all his fellow workmen. His sorrowing friends and relatives have the sympathy of the whole community.
