JAMES E. SEELEY SR., PRINTING COMPANY OWNER

James E. Seeley Sr., 83, of Cheektowaga, owner and operator of an area printing business for many years, died Monday (July 5, 1999) in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga, after suffering a heart attack while attending a wake for his wife who died just four days earlier.

Born in Bedford, Ohio, he was brought to Buffalo as an infant and lived for many years in different foster homes. He worked at Curtiss-Wright during World War II until the late 1940s, when he joined Bell Aerospace and became an inspector. He worked there until the mid-1950s, when he opened James Printing Co. in Amherst, which he ran until retiring in 1981.

He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Church in Blossom and was a member of the Holy Name Society and choir. He as a third-degree Knight of Columbus and was an avid reader and enjoyed dancing, singing and fishing.

His son, James E. Jr. of Apple Valley, Minn., noted that Wednesday would have been the 49th anniversary of his marriage to the former Rita Morlock, who died July 1.

Seeley also is survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in St. Gabriel’s Church, 5271 Clinton St. He and his wife were buried together today in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
