SEELEY, Donald A. 91, of Piper Shores, Scarborough, ME, passed away on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Maine Medical Center in Portland. He was born in 1917 in Newton, MA, the son of Silas and Frances (Skelton) Seeley. He joined the U.S. Navy and during World War II he had tours of duty in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. After the war he Joined Philco Ford and taught electronics in Germany, where he met and married the love of his life, Lieselotte Fischer of Freising, Germany. He and his new family came back to the states in 1953 and he worked for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement. In 1954 he and his wife became proprietors of the Limberlost Cabins on Route 1 in Saco, Maine. After the death of his wife, Don moved to Piper Shores. He was predeceased by his wife, his twin sister, Dorothea Woodruff, his sister Elizabeth French and a nephew. Survivors include his brother Richard Seeley of Cotuit, MA: his son Horst Seeley and his wife Susan (Laskey) of Scarborough; two grandchildren Lisa Zaeder and her husband, John, of Andover, MA, and Stephen Seeley and his wife Sharon of Londonderry, NH. Great grandchildren include Jeffrey and Benjamin Zaeder and triplets, Alexandra, Nathan and Tyler Seeley. He is also survived by several nephews and nieces. Visiting hours are to be held Tuesday from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, 365 Main St., SACO. A 1PM service will immediately follow at the home. Private family burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery at a later date.
