David Hugh Seeley

Seeley, former Ram, dies

Former Regina Rams fullback David Hugh Seeley died Friday at the age of 40.

Seeley played for the Rams from 1968 to ’70 and won the national junior championship with the team in 1970.

“He was just the kind of person who got along with everyone,” said Gordon Currie, who coached the Rams from 1965 to ’76.  “He wasn’t interested in self-gratification but in how he could contribute to the wellbeing of others.  He was very quiet, genuine, sincere and thoughtful.  He wasn’t just a football player.”

Seeley won the batting and pitching championships in 1966 in midget baseball.  He played high school football at Luther College and Scott Collegiate and pitched for the Regina Red Sox.

He was employed at the University of Regina as internal auditor at the time of his death.  He is survived by his parents, Hugh and Josephine, his wife, Glenna, and son, Scott, and a brother and sister.

A memorial service was scheduled for today at 11 a.m. at the Helmsing Funeral Chapel.
