Edward Goodrich Seeley

Edward Goodrich Seeley, oldest son of John and Delia (Goodrich) Seeley, was born in Sudbury, Vt., September 16th, 1841, but his parents moved to Middlebury in his infancy and this town has been his home all his life.  In 1863 he married Marie D. Benton, who with his two brothers, Charles J., and Julius O., sr., and one sister, Mrs. Delia A. Belden of St. Joseph, Mich., survive him.  Mr. Seeley was a successful farmer, living on a farm on Munger street thirty years.  Failing health compelled him to leave farm life and eight years ago he came to this village, where, after a year of illness he died June 2d.  A kind neighbor, a firm and true friend, a good citizen, has gone to his rest.  The funeral was attended from the home Sunday afternoon, Rev. A.A. Lancaster, pastor of the local Congregational church, of which the deceased was a member, officiating.  Burial was in the Central cemetery.  The bearers were six nephews of the deceased.  The floral tributes were numerous and beautiful.
