Eleanor “Jean” Seeley

August 09, 1928 – September 12, 2016

Eleanor Jean Seeley (Mundorff), 88, a lifelong resident of Washington County, passed away on September 12, 2016.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 1st at 11:00 AM at the Cornelius United Methodist Church, 1095 South Beech Street, Cornelius.

Jean was the youngest of seven children born to John and Eleanor (Wintemantel) Mundorff. She grew up and attended school in Cornelius, graduated from Forest Grove Union High School with the Class of 1946, and attended Oregon State University.

Jean had two children from first marriage, Julie Ann and Randolph (Randy) Punley. The family resided in Cornelius with Jean’s mother until her mother’s death in 1965.

In 1965 after her Mother’s passing, Jean became reacquainted with a former neighbor, and recent widower, Tony Seeley. They were married on April 15, 1966. Tony was the love and light of her life. And Tony’s adult daughter Jane Seeley, a fellow choir member in the Cornelius United Methodist Church, became her second daughter. Jean and Tony built a home on South 11th Avenue in Cornelius, and lived together there until his death in 2000.

Jean worked as a Clerk for the Washington County Department of Finance until her retirement.

Jean was an active congregant and volunteer at the Cornelius United Methodist Church. Jean and Tony were avid rock hounds, a hobby that began with picking up stones on Agate Beach during their honeymoon. Together they were active in the Tualatin Valley Rock and Gem Club. Jean was a nature lover and enjoyed being in the outdoors. She and Tony took many camping, hunting and fishing trips throughout Oregon and the northwest, as well as to Alaska. She also loved going into Portland for an evening of dancing.

Jean was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling frequently to visit them.

Jean was a resident of Forest Grove Beehive.

She is preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, Lowell Mundorff, Maurice Mundorff, Norman Lloyd Mundorff, Rosamund Mundorff, Donald Mundorff and John Mundorff.

Jean is survived by her children, Randy Punley (Brian Ekeland) of Alexandria, VA, Julie Ann (Kenneth) Hedrick of Midwest City, OK, and Jane Seeley (Ronald Reddig) of Durham, NC, and grandchildren, Tim Kendall of Oklahoma City, OK, Scott Killough of Tumwater, WA, and Kristin Hawkins of Palm Bay, FL.

The Family suggests donations in Jean’s name be made to the Cornelius United Methodist Church.
