Eric Michael Seeley

Eric Michael Seeley, D.C., 36 of Columbia passed away on Saturday March 4, 2017 at University Hospital. He was born in Lander, WY on August 11, 1980 the son of the late Dick Seeley and Kathy (Mathisen) Seeley Henderson.

Eric was a 1998 graduate of Big Piney High School. He attended Conception Seminary College and Columbia College before enrolling in Logan University College of Chiropractic. It was during his years in St. Louis that he developed his love for Cardinal baseball and especially Yodier Molina. He was awarded his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree in 2006 and practiced with Columbia Back and Neck Pain Clinic and most recently with Columbia Chiropractic Center.

Eric had a passion for music beginning at a very early age. By age 15, Eric was serving as the Music Minister with St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Big Piney Wyoming. He was an accomplished pianist and guitarist and loved sharing his musical talents at Church and at home with friends. Eric never missed an opportunity to share his musical talents after a Sunday dinner, or an impromptu gathering for Show Tunes or a night of Catholic Hymns. Eric was an excellent vocalist and had been a member of the local Columbia Chorale and the St Louis Gateway Men’s Chorus. Eric was also involved with the Columbia Entertainment Company (CEC) and enjoyed being a part of many performances there in addition to serving on the CEC Board of Directors. The friends he made while a part of CEC remain some of his closest (and funniest) friends.

Eric shared his passion as a social justice activist, and did not shy away from his views around equal rights. He loved board games, card games and gathering with friends to share the latest issues surfacing on social media. Many friends and former patients will certainly remember his love of corny jokes. He reveled in his ability to collect jokes and never missed the annual Garrison Keillor broadcast of “great” jokes. He loved “punny” jokes!

Eric is survived by his husband of 18 years: Matt Smith of Columbia; mother: Kathy (Rodney) Henderson of Lander, WY; one sister: Jennifer Alexander of Casper, WY; one brother: Byron Seeley of Jeffery City, WY; five nieces: Erin (Kevin) Beckman; Jaz Bjorksten; Drew Bjorksten; Sofie Bjorksten; Tess Blorksten; one nephew: Travis Alexander; three great nieces: Eden, Alex, Amy Grace Beckman

Preceding Eric in death were his grandparents: Red & Maxine Mathisen; Don & Nona Seeley; his father: Dick Seeley one sister: Andrea Bjorksten; one brother in law: Andy Bjorksten.
