Betty Seely, 85, of Pleasant Grove passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at her home. She was born October 15, 1925 in Ephraim, Utah to George Spafford and Maude Hansen Sumsion. She married Boyd Seely on February 6, 1979. Boyd passed away in March, 2010.

Betty grew up in Sanpete County and attended school there. She later received a nursing degree from LDS Hospital. Betty was a practicing nurse for nearly 50 years. She was active member of the LDS Church and served as Relief Society President in her Manila Ward.

She is survived by her three sons: James E. Darden, Virginia Beach, VA; Jon (Chris) Darden, Las Vegas, NV and William D. Darden, Salt Lake City, UT; four step-children: Joseph (Joan) Seely, Michelle (H) Nielsen, Jeannette (Kraig) Higginson, Robert (Ann) Seely; 25 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Jerry Sumsion and Allen (Linda) Sumsion. She was preceded in death by her son, Andrew Darden.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 9, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Manila Stake Center, 950 East 850 North, American Fork, (next to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple). Family and friends may attend a viewing Sunday evening from 6-8 pm at Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Monday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
