George Curtis Seely

ABERDEEN – George Curtis Seely, 101, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at the Care Center of Aberdeen. He was born Sept. 30, 1900, in Monroe County to Spencer and Maggie Ross Seely. He was a life long resident of Monroe County and a member of Sulphur Springs Primitive Baptist Church. He had been a farmer, worked at the Columbus Air Base and drove a bus for the Monroe County School System. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel with Elder Ken Mallard officiating. Burial will be in the Ross Cemetery in Hamilton. Survivors include six daughters, Martha Ott and her husband, Charles, and Reba Conn, all of Columbus, Hazel Lockhart and her husband, Delford, of Dallas, Texas, Mavis Stanley and her husband, Robert, of Caledonia, Judy Guess and her husband, Jerry, of Millport, Ala., and Jo Brown of Aberdeen; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Irene Smith Seely; and one son, Sidney Don Seely. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
