Harold L. “Short” Seely

88, of Herrick died 7 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 6, 1996) in the Illinois Masonic Home, Sullivan.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Lockart & Sons Funeral Home, Cowden, with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with 7:30 p.m. Masonic rites. Burial will be in Myers Cemetery, Herrick, with military rites. Memorials: donor’s choice.

Mr. Seely was born on Jan. 9, 1908, in Herrick, son of John and Mae Corley Seely. He was a retired farmer and livestock dealer and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Ora E. Williams in 1927 and she passed away in 1952. He married Dorothy Austin Hall in 1958.

He is survived by his wife; four sons and daughters-in-law, Pete Seely and Jack Seely of Cowden; Dean Seely of Decatur; Jerry Seely of Raymond; stepson, Gary Hall of Orting, Wash.; stepdaughter, Beverly Brown of Bloomington; 11 grandchildren; 26 greatgrandchildren; one great-greatgrandchild; four stepgrandchildren; eight great-stepgrandchildren; sister, Fannie Spicer of Madison, Mo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister and one great-grandchild.
