John Seely, Nephi Man’s Father, Dies

Mt. Pleasant – Funeral services for John Leo Seely, 84, Mt. Pleasant, who died Monday of head injuries suffered when he fell off his horse, will be announced by Jacobs Mortuary of Mt. Pleasant.

He was the father of Mrs. Frank O. (Ina) Morgan of Nephi.

Mr. Seely was born April 4, 1887, in Mt. Pleasant, a son of John H. and Margaret Peel Seely. He married Edna Lucille Routh on Oct. 6, 1910, in Salt Lake City, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.

At the time of his death he was a High Priest in the Mt. Pleasant Third Ward and still active as a home teacher. He had served an LDS mission to Ireland.

Mr. Seely was a former employee of the Department of the Interior, working with the Indians. He was also a breeder of horses, a cattleman and a farmer. He had attended Utah State University.

Survivors include his widow; three daughters and two sons, Mrs. Morgan Nephi; Mrs. A. Thomas (Chesla) Patterson, Salt Lake City; Raynor John Blanding; Edwin M.G. Seeley, Milwaukie, Ore.; Mrs. Neal (Lucy Rae) Capel, Bloomington, Washington Co.; 32 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Robert H. (Arvrelia) Hinckley, Eden, Weber Co.
