Joseph Frederick Seely, 82

SMYRNA – Joseph Frederick Seely of Smyrna died Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, in his home. He was 82.

Mr. Seely was born Dec. 5, 1917, in Greenwood, the son of the late Joseph S. and Rita Oakes Seely.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Seely worked for Parkview Airstream and Travel Trailers as a mechanic for several years before retirement.

He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed boating and fishing.

Mr. Seely was a member of the Greenwood Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Tyrrell Seely; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred D. and Vaudeen Seely of Hughesville, Pa.; a daughter, Gerri Seely Palmer of Ocean City, Md.; and eight grandchildren, Naomi, Joshua, Jonathan, Sean, Shannon, Nick, Ashley and Brandy.

Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Smyrna Church of Christ, Joe Goldsboro Road, Smyrna.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.

Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
