June 1, 1929 – Aug. 12, 2010MISHAWAKA – Phyllis J. Seely, 81, of Mishawaka, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2010 in her residence. Phyllis was born June 1, 1929, in Decatur, IN. As the former Phyllis J. Chronister, she married Douglas D. Seely, Jr., on January 2, 1955. Phyllis and Douglas were married for thirty-five wonderful years. Douglas passed away on September 11, 1991. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and Bridge, and working cross-word puzzles. During elections she often volunteered to work at the polls. Phyllis is survived by her two children, Douglas D. Seely III, of North Liberty, and Elizabeth Strahla of Mishawaka. Phyllis was a loving and caring grandmother to six grandchildren; Ashley and Stephanie Strahla; Donald, Kimberly, Michelle, and Benjamin Seely. Phyllis was also a great grandmother of one, Anthony Strahla. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, August 16 in the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka, from 3 to 5 p.m. A service celebrating Phyllis’s life will be held at 5 p.m. in the funeral chapel. Burial will take place at a later date in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.
