William E. Seely

William E. Seely, 87, a former Buffalonian and retired Buffalo State Hospital attendant who served as an army nurse in the Spanish-American War and Boxer Insurrection, died yesterday in the Buffalo Veterans Hospital. He lived at 168 Waverly St., Springville.

In 1907, he joined the Buffalo State Hospital as an attendant. He retired in 1928.

A native of Williamsport, Pa., Mr. Seely was a member of Seyburn-Liscum Camp, United-Spanish War Veterans, and of Damascus Temple of the Shrine of Rochester.

Surviving are his second wife, Mrs. Mary Short Seely, four step-sons, John H., Glenn and Alfred Healas and Jack H. Brigham, a chief petty officer in the Navy; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Minerva Koelzow and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Lusk and Mrs. Minnie Lusk.

The Rev. J. Franklin Beck, pastor of Trinity Evangelical United Brethren Church, Grand Island, will officiate at funeral services at 2 Saturday afternoon in the Weismantel Bros Funeral Home, 271 E. Main St., Springville. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Pine Hill.
