James Edward Sealy
Former People’s Coal & Ice Co. and heating and electric service owner James Edward Sealy, 79, of Paris died Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at his residence.
The body was cremated.
A memorial service will be scheduled later.
No visitation is planned. Ridgeway Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Born Aug. 28, 1930, in Ridgely, he was a son of the late Auther Lee and Mary Elma Cash Sealy.
He was married on July 3, 1953, to the former Myrtle Patterson, who died Jan. 7, 1982.
As a businessman, Sealy owned People’s Coal & Ice Co. and was former owner and operator of Jim’s Heating & Electric Service. He also was a farmer.
He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and VFW. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War, receiving the Purple Heart.
He leaves one daughter, Debra (Clarence) Bates of Paris; one son, Matt (Diane) Sealy of Paris; three sisters: Dorothy (Jim) Minton and Elizabeth High, both of Heber Springs, Ark., and Patricia (Tim) Corrigan of Olive Branch, Miss.; one brother, Melvin (Janeene) Sealy of Burnsville, N.C.;
Five grandchildren: Michael and Dustin Bates and Ashley Odom, all of Paris, Scott Sealy of Union City and Misty Sealy of Michigan; five great-grandchildren: Clay Sealy, Jacinda and Devon Bates, Adrianna O’Dell and Emily Potts; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Helen White.
A son, Garry Sealy, also preceded him in death.
