Enid (Oma) Tolman Sealy, age 97, died on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at her daughter’s home in Grants Pass, Oregon.

Oma was born on March 29, 1920, in Albion, Idaho, to her parents, George O. Tolman and Katherine Loveland Tolman. They moved their family to Salt Lake City, Utah, in Enid’s younger years. Oma was the seventh of 13 children — nine girls and four boys. In her late teens, they moved to California, where she graduated from San Fernando High School in 1937.

She met Ralph LeRoy Sealy and they were married on April 1, 1938, in Yuma, Arizona. They settled in Roscoe, California, where they had their four children — two boys and two girls. In 1947, they moved their family to Grants Pass.

She set the example of being a hard worker. Working in the hop yards and gladiola fields. She continued working hard as a nurse at the Merlin Sanitarium. Later joining the staff at Josephine Memorial Hospital.

In 1962, Ralph and Oma moved to Mountain View, California. She continued her nursing career at Sequoia Hospital in Redwood City, California, until she retired in 1982.

After retirement, they returned to Grants Pass to be closer to family. Ralph passed away in 1984. Oma learned to bowl after retirement. She belonged to three leagues. She participated as a member of the Match Club as well. Traveling for tournaments with her son, Don, until he passed away in 2006. She continued bowling in two of the leagues until her late 80s.

Oma loved gardening, swimming, bowling, traveling, and trips to the coast with her family. She was also an expert Skipbo player. Her whole family loved playing cards with her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Sealy; son, Don Sealy; grandson, Harold Coltrane; great-grandsons, Shawn Wonsyld and Andrew Mins; parents; seven sisters; and four brothers.

Oma is survived by two daughters, Louise Etherton (Clint) and Connie Mayers (Jim); son, Bob Sealy (Judy); daughter-in-law, Betsy Sealy; one sister, Carole Clark; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren (three expecting).

Services for Oma were held on December 27, 2017 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was laid to rest at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.

We will all miss Oma very much. She was a very special lady.
