Duncan Justus Seeley

SEELEY, Duncan J. (Retired Foreman Superior Electric Pembroke) –  of 922 Pembroke Street West, Pembroke died in Ottawa Civic Hospital suddenly Dec. 21st 1976.  He was in his 81st year.

Born on August 14th 1896 in Ross Township, Renfrew County he was the eldest son of the late Colin Seeley and the late Helen Seeley (nee McLaughlin).  Mr. Seeley received his education at Ross Twp school and Drummond Business College Renfrew.

He was a veteran of W.W.1 and served with Canadian Expeditionary Force in Canada, England and France.  He was a member of Branch 72 Royal Canadian Legion Pembroke for almost 25 years.

Mr. Seeley was predeceased by his first wife the former Ellen McCracken and his son Warrant Officer Elwin Seeley (missing in action in W.W. II), a brother George and his only sister Edith.

His is survived by his wife Mary Mulvihill (Nee Robert).  Three step-sons Robert Mulvihill of Renfrew, Lawrence Mulvihill of Cobden, Dolore Mulvihill at home, one brother Joseph Seeley of Picton, and eight grandchildren.

Rev. D.R. Anderson conducted the legion service on behalf of Branch 72 Royal Canadian legion Pembroke Thursday evening Dec. 23rd.

Father D.J. Harrington conducted the Knights of Columbus services on behalf of Council no. 1531 Pembroke Thursday evening Dec. 23rd.

Many Spiritual and foral bouquets were received from friends and relatives.  Funeral was from The Murphy Funeral Home to The Most Holy Name of Jesus Church, Dec. 24th at 1:30 o’clock where funeral mass was celebrated by Father T.J. Hunt.  Priests in the sanctuary included Father D.J. Harrington, Father S.M. Shulist and Father J.K. O’Brien.

Prayers at the Cemetery Vault were by Father D.J. Harrington. Entombment, Wesley Cemetery vault with spring burial at Wesley Cemetery Pembroke.  Pallbearers were Doctor Norman G. Sutherland, Delbert Krantz, Lawrence Fortier, Dave Cybulski, Lorne Catherwood, and A.P. Whelan.

Seeley, 922 Pembroke St. West Pembroke, beloved husband of Mary Robert and by first marriage of the late Ellen McCracken, predeceased by his son Elwin; dear step-father of Robert Mulvihill, Renfrew; Lawrence Mulvihill, Pembroke and Delore Mulvihill, at home; dear brother of Joseph Seeley, Picton; predeceased by his brother George and sister Edith (Mrs. Hugh McNevin).  Friends may call at the Murphy Funeral Home 296 Isabella St. Pembroke.  Funeral liturgy on Friday afternoon December 24 at 1:30, in the church of the Most Holy Name.  Entombment Wesley cemetery vault.
