Douglas Allen Seeley

SEELEY – Douglas Allen Seeley passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Thursday, May 15, 1997 surrounded by his family.  Doug was predeceased by his father Peter Seeley, his mother Isabelle Seeley, brothers, Bernard, Stewart, Leroy and sisters, Eva and Molly.  A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, he will be sorely missed.  He is survived by his best friend and wife of forty-eight years, Inga; two daughters, Sharon (Bill) and Patti (Allen); grandchildren, Lee, Douglas, Jessica, Sioned, and Emma-Lee; numerous nieces and nephews, and a wonderful community of close friends.  Doug was born in Regina, Sask. on August 28, 1926.  He joined the sales team of Colgate Palmolive Ltd. In 1948 moving to Swift Current, Regina, Vancouver, Edmonton, back to Regina and finally to Calgary in 1971.  Doug remained with the company for thirty-nine years retiring in Calgary in 1987.  While in Regina, Doug was a member of UCT (Associated Canadian Travellers) Flagship Lodge No. 154, Palace of Wales Chapter No. 27, Wascana Preceptory No. 51, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Wa Wa Temple and Wa Wa Temple Pipes and Drums.  Special thanks to Dr. F. Warshawski and the wonderful nurses and doctors of Rockyview Intensive Care Unit and Emergency, Constables Rowley and Shannon of the Calgary Police and the many Good Samaritans who assisted Doug in his time of need.  A Memorial Service will be held at McInnis & Holloway’s “Fish Creek Chapel” on Tuesday, May 20, 1997 at 10:00a.m.  If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Canadian Diabetes Association, the Alberta Lung Association, to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, or to the Shriner’s Hospital For Crippled Children would be greatly appreciated.  In living memory of Douglas Seeley, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes “Fish Creek Chapel”.
