Dorothy M. Seele Dorothy M. Seele, 84, of Wells Creek, rural Belvue, Kansas, died Thursday, January 26, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 1, 2017, at Immanuel Faith Community Church, Wells Creek. Dorothy will lie-in-state on Tuesday, beginning at 3:00 p.m., at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Dorothy M. Seele, 84, of Wells Creek, rural Belvue, died Thursday, Jan, 26, 2017, at Stormont-Vail Health Center in Topeka.  She was a life-long resident of the area.

Dorothy was born May 24, 1932, in rural Paxico, the daughter of Edward A. and Sarah A. Meade Buchmeier. She attended local schools and graduated in 1950 from Seaman High School in Topeka.

Dorothy married James August Seele on June 21, 1953, in Columbia, S.C., the day of his discharge from the Army.  He preceded her in death on July 16, 2016.

Dorothy was a farm wife and homemaker.  She loved to garden and was an active participant in the farm operation.  She spent hours tending the chickens and canning the local fruits and vegetables she grew.  She also enjoyed sewing, monthly card parties and an occasional dance.  Dorothy loved her family and all the time she could spend with them.

Dorothy also worked as a bookkeeper and cashier for KP&L Electric in Topeka, as the manager of the ButterKrust Bread outlet store in Manhattan, as a sales clerk for Dillards in Manhattan, and a cook for the Wamego High School Food Service.  She was a very active member of Immanuel Faith Community Church Wells Creek, a member of Dorcas Circle Ladies Group and the church historian.  She also served many years on the Kaw Township Election Board.

Dorothy is also survived by her children, Jamie Medaris (Jerry), Lawrence and Karl Seele (Christy), Belvue; her son-in-law, Al Bollmeyer, Wamego; her grandchildren, Sarah Riffel (Brandon), Elijah Seele, Emma Seele, Adam Medaris, Nik Bollmeyer (Tonya), and Heidi Hiestand (Jeff); her sister, Shirley Higgins (John), Topeka and sister-in-law, Ann Mekelburg, Yuma, Colo.  Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Paula Bollmeyer, on June 1, 201; brothers, John Buchmeier and Marvin Buchmeier; and sister-in-law, Marcella Buchmeier.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Immanuel Faith Community Church, Wells Creek.  Pastor Tim Pearson will be officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Mrs. Seele will lie-in-state beginning at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  They suggest memorial contributions to the Immanuel Faith Community Church, and those may be sent in care of the mortuary.
