Dorothy Jean “Dee” Seeley

Memorial services are scheduled at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 26 at First United Methodist Church for Dorothy Jean “Dee” Seeley of Artesia, New Mexico.

Mrs. Seeley, 74, passed away on June 19, 2018 at her home.

Rev. Monty Leavell will officiate at the services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.

Dee was born August 15, 1943 in Peekskill, NY; the daughter of Charles and Jean (Hardin) Kirby. On May 28, 1977 she married Robert Seeley in Las Cruces, NM. They moved to Hope, NM in 1978.

She worked in Customer Relations for a New Mexico Gas Company and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of Artesia Clean and Beautiful, Artesia Emergency Relief and Helper’s Club. Dee enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading, drawing, shopping and traveling. Her claim to fame was that she was once touched by Elvis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, niece Kimberly Kirby; her mother-in-law Helen Seeley and by a sister-in-law Marionette Seeley.

Survivors include her husband Robert Seeley of Hope; son David Seeley and wife Betty of Hope; daughters Corinne Larranaga and husband Phillip of Hope, Elizabeth Gilbert and husband Randy of Capitan, NM and Kristen Seeley of Artesia; a brother Lee Kirby and wife Evelyn of Durango, CO; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dee is also survived by sisters-in-law Barbara Kelly and husband Ron of Carlsbad, CA and Kathy DuBose and husband Tom of Brawley, CA; a brother-in-law Edward Seeley of Las Cruces, NM; and by her special companions Brittany, Chancy, Janell, and Mousie.

The family would also like to thank her caregivers Norma Renteria, Lina Esparza, Sanjuana Torres, Helen Aguilar, Gloria Armijo, Kayla Welch, Norma Salcido and Kate Perez.
