Deborah L. Seelye (1952 – 2018)

Child of Heaven, Lover of Christ, Deborah Lee Seelye entered into the presence of her saviour Saturday, January 13, at the age of 65, surrounded by her family.

Wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Debbie was born in San Francisco, California, on April 23, 1952, to Jack Eugene and Patricia Alice (Murray) Brown.

While her father completed a career in the United States Coast Guard, Deborah lived in San Francisco, Honolulu, Port Angeles, Mystic, Connecticut; and Oklahoma City, where she graduated from U.S. Grant High School in 1970. Following her Dad’s retirement from the Coast Guard, the family settled down in Port Angeles, where Deb attended Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Peninsula College.

In Port Angeles she met and married Walter L. (Lou) Seelye on May 27, 1972, and together they began another Coast Guard career, taking her to San Francisco, Corpus Christi, Texas; Brooklyn, New York; Astoria, Oregon; San Diego, California; and finally back to Corpus Christi, Texas, to finish out a 23-year career.

In the fall of 1989, the family returned to Port Angeles, where Deb worked at the (then) 8th Street Clinc. They started a contracting business which their son now owns and operates. Attending Independent Bible Church up until her passing, Deb was active in Bell Choir, The AWANA youth ministries, and various Bible studies, as well as serving on the Deaconess Committee.

She is survived by her husband, Lou; her three children, Justin David (Janelle), Joshua Bryant (Lori) all of Port Angeles, and Kristin Jenice (Peder) Seelye-Lerseth of Burien; as well as her father, Jack E. (Ruth) Brown of Sequim; and brother David L. (Sonja) of Port Angeles; and six grandchildren, Ashlee, Austin, Nathan, Kyler, Evelyn and Peder Luther.

Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Alice (Murray) Brown, in 1988.

Debbie’s joys in life were her grandchildren and her involvement in church activities, and her many friends at her workplace.

We have lost one truly loved, and Jesus has gained a strong right arm.

Memorial services for Deborah will be held at the Independent Bible Church, Port Angeles at 11 a.m., on January 27, 2018.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen at Susan G. Komen , Dept. 41831, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265 or Independent Bible Church.
