David Sam Sealey, 68
David Sam Sealey, 68, entered eternal rest Saturday, Aug. 27, 2005.
He was born in Wake County, N.C., on Dec. 30, 1936. He moved to Hampton in 1958 and has resided in Southampton for 46 years.
David was a loving father who devoted himself to his three sons and their families, Gary and Susie Sealey (Callie and Shannon Gray), Todd and Karen Sealey (Addie, Brittney and Courtney), Shannon and Andrea Sealey (Hannah and Layne)
He is also survived by three sisters and five brothers, Edna Sealey Capps, Elsie Sealey Kirk, Flora Sealey Haskins, Claude, Garland, James and Russell Sealey, all from Clayton, N.C., and Gene Sealey who lives in Connecticut.
He retired in 2001 with 37 years of dedicated service at Newport News Shipbuilding. He was blessed with some lifelong friendships developed with co-workers from the 043 Department (Powerhouse).
The family extends their appreciation for the love and care he was shown throughout this community that he referred to as home. Thank you Vancostas, Oasis, Fertitas, Red Cisco’s, Tire City, Southampton neighborhood and many others.
David was well-known for his kind and giving heart. He always thought of others first. He loved to make people laugh and lift their spirits. He loved dogs, especially his grandchildren’s dog named “Stock,” who he thoroughly enjoyed during his retirement years.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the Animal Aid Society, 8 Butler Farm Road, Hampton 23666, 865-0511.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Ave., Hampton.
