VINTON – Ethel M. Cummings, 91, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 1999, at St. Lukes Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a heart attack.

She was born on Aug. 6, 1908 in Vinton, the daughter of William and Mary and Mary Powers Seely. She married Robert Allen Cummings in 1929 in Cedar Rapids. Ethel worked at Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids and Vinton Produce prior to her marriage. She was an accomplished homemaker and mother. Her children and especially her grandchildren, great-grandchild and great great grandchildren were her greatest joy.

She is survived by two sons, William E. Cummings and his wife Faye, and Robert A. Cummings, all of Vinton; 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roger in 1974; her daughter, Maxine Worthen; one grandson Douglas Pruisner; one granddaughter, Brenda Gingrich; one brother, Floyd Seely and two sisters, Vera Meredith and Wilma Seely.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, 1999, at the Vinton Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Dennis VanDeVenter officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Vinton.
