Clyde Wanda Seeley Swensen

ANTHONY – Clyde Wanda Seeley Swensen, 90, of St. Anthony, died April 7, 1999, at Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg.

She was born Oct. 27, 1908, in Payson, Utah, to Alvin W. and Martha Wightman Seeley.

She was raised in Ashton, where she attended grade school and graduated from Ashton High School.

She had many household responsibilities since age 12 because of her mother’ s death.

On Dec. 6, 1926, she married Neil Severin Swensen in St. Anthony.

Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple Oct. 30, 1951.

She had lived in St. Anthony since her marriage, with the exception of one year in Ashton.

Her husband died July 29, 1969.

An active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in many positions.

While Primary president, she received a silver dollar paperweight from President Heber J. Grant for raising funds for the Primary Children’ s Hospital.

She also served many years as secretary of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, Fort Henry Camp.

She was fascinated with history and spent many hours doing genealogy research.

She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers and always took great pride in these activities along with her family.

Survivors include her children, Russell N. (LaRue) Swensen of Ammon, Darlene (Douglas) French of Ashton, Boyd R. (Christine) Swensen of San Jose, Calif., Irene (Harvey) Klein of Wilford, and Carol (Dave) Gardner of Soldotna, Alaska; her brother and stepsister, Hyrum and Mildred Seeley of Ashton; a sister, Kathryn (Harold) Elg of Rexburg; a brother, Kenneth (Lois) Seeley of Aumsville, Ore. ; half-brothers, Raymond (Joyce) Seeley of Ashton, and Harold (Clella) Seeley of Kimberly, Idaho; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred; a stepsister, Dorothy; and two grandsons, Kevin French and Mark Klein.

Funeral services will be at 1 p. m. Monday at the St. Anthony LDS Stake Center with Bishop David Atkinson, of the St. Anthony 2nd Ward, officiating.

The family will meet with friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p. m. at Bert Flamm Mortuary, 581 E. First North in St. Anthony, and Monday from 11:30 a. m. to 12:45 p. m. at the church.

Burial will be in the Wilford Cemetery.
