Benjamin J. Seeley Jr.

Benjamin J. Seeley Jr., 44 Williams St., Taylor, formerly of Moosic, died unexpectedly Saturday at home.  His wife is the former Janice Yuhas.

Born in Scranton, son of the late Benjamin and Margaret Jenkins Seeley, he was a member of Moosic United Methodist Church, a trustee, and member of the administrative board of the church.  He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and attended Penn State University and Texas A&M University.  He was an Army veteran of World War II.  Prior to retirement, he was a shipping supervisor for Wallace Murray Corp., Scranton.

He was a former Director of Parks and Recreation of Lackawanna County, and formerly served as secretary-treasurer for the Moosic Chamber of Commerce.  He formerly served on the Moosic Planning Commission and also served as Republican committeeman of Moosic.  He was a member and former president of Moosic Lions Club and was former secretary of District 14-H Lions International.  He was a former president of the United Neighborhood Services and was one of the founders and directors of the Moosic Youth Center.

Also surviving are a son, Benjamin 3rd, Moosic; a daughter, Susan Becker, Swiftwater, Pa.; a sister, Mrs. Ida Holubosky, Taylor; four granddaughters and a grandson; nieces and nephews.

A brother, Robert, preceded him in death.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Jacob Davis Funeral Home, 813 Main St., Moosic, with services by the Rev. Leon Gumar, Moosic United Methodist Church.  Interment, Fairview Memorial Park.
