Urbandale – Helen M. Seeley, 96, of Urbandale, IA, died peacefully surrounded by her family on March 27, 2018, at Unity Point Methodist Medical Center from complications of pneumonia. She was born in New York City and was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Seeley, Sr., her mother and father, Mary Magdelena Scherf and Carl August Scherf, a sister, Anne Hudak and her grandson, Philip Hunter. Helen is survived by daughters Barbara Woodworth (Jim), Cheryl Cook (Gary), Virginia Hunter, a son, Robert L. Seeley, Jr. (Susan), special family friend, Jeri Ann Brown, eleven grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Helen was a member of Windsor Heights Lutheran Church, the Elderberry Group and PEO Chapter LA. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family. She blessed and encouraged others with an active card ministry and was affectionately known as the “Card Lady.”
The family will receive friends at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church from 10-11 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2018. Her funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with entombment in Merle Hay Mausoleum. Memorial contributions to Windsor Heights Lutheran Church or PEO Chapter LA.
